Alright peeps, let’s talk about the differences between wedding planners and wedding coordinators.
The simple answer: a wedding planner plans your wedding, while a wedding coordinator, coordinators your wedding. Ha! Easy enough, right? Not always!
Let me break this down a bit for you.
A wedding planner is typically with you from engagement to wedding day, this person has no other job but to make sure your wedding is exactly what you want it to be. Once you hire a wedding planner, you give them a very broad (or very detailed) vision of your wedding, and they can then help you pick out everything from a wedding venue to wedding florists, caterer, furniture rentals, invitations, and so much more. Depending on your time and budget constraints, you can then be as hands on or hands offs as you want to be.
With a wedding coordinator, a couple will take care of sourcing and hiring all of their own vendors. They also conceptualize their own wedding design and general flow of the event. The coordinator is there to ensure that the all of the moving parts you as a couple pulled together works seamlessly. Your coordinator will take your well designed plans and collection of vendors, and offer you a stress free wedding day.
In the world of weddings, industry terminology’s tossed around without much of an explanation. For couples floating on the engagement cloud 9, confusion can quickly bring them back to the ground. I want to bring clarity to a world of unknown by bringing transparency and clarification to help you start your planning on the right foot.
Come back every Monday as I pull back the veil on weddings. See you next Monday!
